Pride Isn’t a Brand. It’s a Responsibility.
We are shaped by the history of the LGBTQ+ community in New York City—and by the responsibility that history places on leadership today.
This is an awareness campaign exposing False Pride: the widening gap between rainbow branding and real, year-round support for LGBTQ+ people—especially living artists, culture-makers, and innovators.
Too often, we celebrate people only after they’re gone. We lose singular talent, then honor it posthumously—after opportunities, resources, and visibility were withheld when they mattered most.
Take Harmonica Sunbeam: a drag persona created by a brilliant writer, communicator, and improviser. Booking her isn’t charity—it’s securing a smart, hilarious, unforgettable experience that elevates any event. Her following proves her value. Her exclusion exposes the problem.
The same is true for DJs like Frankie Paradise, Cameron the DJ, David DePino, Fred Pierce, and others. When they’re booked, audiences don’t just show up—they remember. History will recognize them. The question is: who shows up for them now?
This campaign examines organizations one by one—looking at transparency, funding, and whether stated values match real outcomes. The goal isn’t conflict. It’s course correction.
Real Pride isn’t retrospective.
It’s active.
It invests in living excellence.
It makes history while people are still here to feel it.
Executives and institutions shape culture by who they choose to support. True representation is action, not optics.
Pride has always required courage.
Today, courage looks like alignment.
